Why I built Colossus

My coach was great. The software around our coaching relationship was not. So I built the platform I wished my coach had.

My coach is great. The software around our coaching relationship is not.

When I started a new training block, here's what the workflow looked like: my program arrived as a PDF in WhatsApp. I logged sessions in a separate workout app. I tracked nutrition in MyFitnessPal. Weekly check-ins were a long message thread with photos buried halfway up. Payments went through a third platform entirely. That's four disconnected apps before any actual training happens.

None of this is anyone's fault. It's just the state of the industry. The coaching itself was solid: programming, communication, the relationship. All good. But the software around the coaching was fighting both of us.

What I kept noticing

The program lived in a PDF, which meant I couldn't log against it cleanly. If my coach updated week 3, I got a new PDF. The "current source of truth" was always one version behind.

Check-ins were just messages. Photos got lost in scroll. Two weeks later, neither of us could find the bodyweight number from the start of the block without scrolling for ten minutes.

Nutrition tracking lived in a parallel universe. My coach couldn't see my food log without me sending screenshots. They couldn't see adherence in context with training output. The two halves of the conversation didn't talk to each other.

And progress, actual progress over six months, was nearly impossible to surface. The data existed somewhere across all four apps. None of it was visible together.

What Colossus does differently

One platform. The program is the source of truth, and your logged sessions are captured against it. Check-ins anchor to specific weeks of the block, so context is preserved. Nutrition lives next to training, in the same view. Billing is in-platform. Progress over months is something you can actually see at a glance.

That's it. That's the entire pitch. I didn't build Colossus to replace coaches. Coaches are most of the value of the relationship. I built it because the tools were quietly making the relationship worse, and someone had to fix it.

We're putting the finishing touches on the mobile app now. If any of this resonates, whether you're a coach who's tired of stitching tools together, or an athlete who's lived through what I just described, we'd love to have you on board.
